After washing off the sand and saltwater, and experiencing the amazing Bocas Del Toro sunset, get ready for your next adventure, the Bocas nightlife. Just as with everything in our world, there is something for everyone. Of course you want to start your evening with a bite to eat. And whatever your desire, it can be found. You can chose to visit one of the other islands for a dinner and boat ride. Caranero has some excellent restaurants, offering seafood specialties. Bastimentos town offers Thai, Italian and Tipico style Caribbean food. Remain on Isla Colon and the choices are almost endless. You can take a short taxi ride out toward the surfing beaches and grab a bite to eat listening to the waves crash and the monkeys call to one another from the jungle that surrounds you. If you walk the main street, you will encounter Italian eateries, Sushi bars, steak houses, French cusine, Indian food, Mexican fare, Vegetarian and Vegan options, and of course local Panamanian dishes. If you pick the right place, you are always in for extra entertainment with your meal. Enjoy watching locals perform all the best dances from the island, and if you are feeling it, let them take you for a whirl on the dance floor teaching you some salsa steps. Enjoy the quiet sounds of a small jazz band performing in an intimate setting with candlelight creating a romantic setting. Open mic nights and burgers make for interesting traveling stories, placing people from all over the world together mixing styles and tunes to create one of a kind music. Once in a while, special events mark the calendars and an additional treat awaits you with belly dancing, calendar release parties and fashion shows all while enjoying tasty food.
Once your dining is complete, you may want to settle in for some desert and a nightcap. Visit one of the trendy bars on the island to enjoy a fine glass of wine or a passion fruit martini. For those who catch the “young, wild and free” feeling while here, Bocas has a variety of bars and clubs, or dancehalls as the locals refer to them. You can start at one of the backpacking hostels to start the party with happy hour specials. Move on from there to one of the many late night spots. Pick your favorite based on your musical taste, with Eletronica/Techno, Reggae/Reggaeton or the local flavor of Bachata, Merengue Salsa and Soca, or barhop around and see them all.There is a different one for each night of the week or if you prefer, you can visit them all in the same night. The party ends when you want it to!
Recently some of the local business owners and promoters have begun bringing in big name performers and giving concerts for all to enjoy. The past few months have marked the first ever Bocas Reggae Fest with headliner Junior Kelly, and the 1st Annual Blues Festival.
